How to contribute[]
We are delighted that you are interested in contributing to our community! There are many ways you can help us improve our wiki, and we value every contribution, big or small. The best part is, you don’t need to register or sign up to join us, but if you do create a profile, you will have access to more features and tools that will enhance your experience.
Correct articles[]
One of the most important ways to improve the quality of our wiki is to correct the existing articles. You can do this whenever you have time, or you can make it a regular habit. There are two main aspects of correcting articles:
- Grammar and spelling: Some articles may have grammatical and spelling errors. You can help us by proofreading and editing them.
- Information: We want our articles to be accurate and reliable, so we need to check the information they contain. While we welcome speculation and discussion on this wiki, we also need to distinguish between facts and opinions, and cite our sources when possible.
Extend and update articles[]
Some of our articles are incomplete (For example: SpaceX) or outdated (For example: Falcon 9). You can help us by adding more information and details to them, and making sure they are relevant and up-to-date. Here are some tips for extending and updating articles:
- Provide examples, explanations, and context for the information you add.
- Use headings, bullet points, and tables to organize and present the information clearly and concisely.
- Add links to other related articles and topics to help the readers navigate the wiki.
- Use images, videos, and other media to illustrate and support the information.
As this wiki covers ongoing activities, some articles need to be updated frequently to reflect the latest developments and events. If you notice that an article has missing or outdated information, you can go to the general timeline and copy the relevant information from there.
Write new articles[]
We are always looking for new topics and subjects to cover on our wiki. Currently, we have over 180 articles, but there is still a lot more to explore and discover. You can help us by creating new articles on topics that interest you or that are not yet covered on the wiki. When writing a new article, please follow these guidelines:
- The title of the article should include the full name of the subject matter and an acronym if applicable. For example: Ship 30 (S30) and Orbital Launch Mount (OLM). However, do not use an acronym if the subject matter does not have one. For example: Starship Tanker Variant.
- The article should have an introduction that summarizes the main points and provides some background information on the subject matter.
- The article should have a clear structure and layout. For vehicle articles this typically consists of 5 sections: History, Timeline, Testing Campaign, Gallery and References. However for other articles it can vary.
- The article should use reliable and credible sources to support the information, and cite them properly.
Reccuring Tasks[]
The current to-do's can be found in #to-do section of the discord server however a list of some reccuring tasks that are always needed can be found below:
Priority 1:[]
- Regular updates to articles, especially those related to current missions and vehicles.
- Daily updates to the General Timeline
IMPORTANT: The "Timeline" section of articles should be added to the General Timeline and vice versa.
Priority 2:[]
- Correcting spelling and grammar across all articles.
- Expanding coverage from May 2019 to January 2021 in the general timeline and new articles.
- Creating detailed articles on technical aspects like metrics, specs, and engines.
Priority 3:[]
- Review and complete categories by adding missing articles.
Guidelines[]
Writing[]
- Keeep articles related to the Starship program, the furthest It can be, is something from SpaceX or an information provider (Like NASA Spaceflight for example)
- Indicate your source of information at least once in the article. Cite sources adequately.
- Don't simply copy information from other wikis such as Wikipedia or LabPadre Wiki. Use other sources for your articles.
- NEVER delete outdated information. If something isn't up to date anymore, move this information into a "History" section.
- Timelines: All information in article timelines are retrieved from the general timeline. So do not directly update the article timelines using external sources, but use external sources to update the general timeline. In a second step, use the general timeline to update single article timelines.
- Write using a simple language. People around the world should be able to understand it.
Pictures[]
- Only upload pictures that aren't copyrighted or that are considered as fair use.
- If you upload own material, please be aware that according to Fandom terms "all contributions to the Starship SpaceX Wiki are considered to be released under the CC-BY-SA".
- If you upload a picture, always edit the License page, add the template "imagesummary" and fill in the information necessary (author, date, source,...)
