SpaceX's Roberts Road facilities provide the primary location for Falcon 9 operations. Work has recently commenced clearing a large area of land to the north of the exisiting footprint of the site for a Starship production site[1]. The cost is currently estimated to be around $1.8 billion (including work at Kennedy Space Center Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A)) for the constuction of a 'high volume production facility, high bays and launch infrastrucutre'[2].

Additionally fabrication of the OLM for OLIT-2 at LC-39A is taking place at Roberts Road.

History[]

SpaceX's plans for Starship at Robert's roads have gone through a lot of changes over time with an entire Starfactory being constructed for manufacturing Starships built on the site in 2022 and then repurposed for other SpaceX operations not related to Starship and is now know as Hangar X2. Furthermore foundations were layed for a Mega Bay, which was then instead constructed at Starbase and is now known as Mega Bay 2. The primary reasons for this prior indecisions was slower than expected progress with the Starship program and re-focussing solely on Starbase in order to accelerate the progress there.

On December 3rd 2024, the first satttelite image of major clearing for the northen expansion at Roberts Road for Starship was observed via Sentinel-2B [3]. Then on December 12th 2024, documentation emerged for plans for construction of Starship facilties to start in January 2024.[4]

In January, work on the northern expansion continued with documents of phase 2 of the expansions being issued.[5]
