The Sanchez Site serves as a key area for prefabrication, scrapping and staging area of key Starbase infrastructure and equipment, including the assembly of important pieces such as the Orbital Launch Tower, the Engine Stand, Storage Tanks, and the Cryoshells.
History[]
The Sanchez Site was initially intended to serve as the future location of the SpaceX propellant production plant, responsible for producing the fuel and oxidizer required for all launches from Starbase. However, the current status of this plan is uncertain as significant changes have occurred at the site. Infrastructure that was previously in place for the propellant production plant has been removed, casting doubt on the realization of this specific project. The reasons behind these changes and the future plans for the Sanchez Site in relation to propellant production remain unclear at this time. However, in the 2024 environmental review, it was revealed that SpaceX would be rebuilding the air separation unit - which is used to extract oxygen, nitrogen an argon to use for propellants - at the Launch Site, near OLIT-3. It is unclear when this reconstruction would take place.
