This article is about the full stack only. For the individual prototypes, see Ship 35 (S35) and Booster 14 (B14). For the ninth starship flight test, including updates and analysis, see Starship Flight Test 9.
Starship 14/35 was the tenth Starship Full Stack. It was flown in Starship Flight Test 9 which was launched May 27th, 2025, and was the third flight with a Block 2 Ship[1], as well as the first with a reused Super Heavy booster vehicle, Booster 14.
Like the previous 2 flights, the Ship (S35) attempted to launch Starlink simulators (although this time it carried 8, as opposed to 4 on Flight 8 with S34 and 10 on Flight 7 with S33), and attempted some reentry experiments, as well as attempted the first successful flight of a Block 2 Ship with Ship 35, successfully doing an orbit insertion, but failing to develop its Starlink simulators, or reenter properly, and reentered inverted, burning in reentry.
The Booster attempted to perform some experiments as well, and was expended in the Gulf of Mexico after launch, rather than being caught at the launch site like on the previous 4 flights. Those experiments included controlling the booster flip direction via welded vents on the hot staging ring, a more efficient high-angle-of-attack booster return, and engine-out capability during the final 3-engine landing burn, where one of the outer engines will try and ignite to compensate. However, the Booster failed to reignite an engine, and had several engines failures, until all engines shut down early, and the booster likely slammed into the water.
Testing campaign[]
Like Flight 8, no full stack testing was conducted before the flight.
